The DISCOVERY 8 is where many shops move from hobby scale to real parts. The 24″ × 48″ cutting area handles cabinet doors and drawer fronts, shelving components, signage, jigs and furniture parts, and the 3 HP spindle gives it the power to cut hardwood and sheet goods at a practical pace. It is a capable first medium-format machine, not a compromise machine.
Who the DISCOVERY 8 suits
Small shops, schools and serious hobbyists who need a 24″ × 48″ bed without moving to the heavier PERFORMANCE frame. If the machine will run for a few hours at a time, the DISCOVERY 8 is a sound choice. If it will run most of the working day, compare it with the PERFORMANCE 8, which uses a welded steel base and a 190 IPM rapid feed. Schools can also order it as the DISCOVERY 8 Education Package.
