Description
The DISCOVERY 1 is the smallest machine in the DISCOVERY series and the most direct way to start cutting parts you design yourself. The 12″ × 12″ work area suits signs, inlays, engraved panels, small enclosures, jigs and prototypes. Because the footprint is under 24″ in both directions, it fits on a workbench in a home shop, a studio or a small production space.
Who the DISCOVERY 1 suits
Makers, small product builders and workshops that need accurate small parts rather than large sheets. It is not the right machine if you regularly cut parts longer than 12″, in which case the DISCOVERY 2 at 12″ × 24″ or the DISCOVERY 8 at 24″ × 48″ will serve you better. Choosing the smaller machine for small work is usually the right call.

What we see most often
Small machines are usually bought for small parts, and then the first real project turns out to be slightly larger than the bed. Before you order, measure the largest part you expect to cut in the next year, not only the one you have in mind today. If the answer is close to 12″, the DISCOVERY 2 is the safer choice.
